APA ITU PIALA KONFEDERASI?

Piala Konfederasi adalah kejuaraan sepak bola yang mempertemukan tim-tim juara dari setiap Konfederasi dibawah naungan FIFA. Dulu kejuaraan ini digelar tiap 2 tahun sekali, tapi sejak 2005 kejuaraan ini digelar tiap 4 tahun sekali tepatnya setahun sebelum Piala Dunia FIFA. Sejak tahun 2005 tempat berlangsungnya kejuaraan ini adalah dinegara yang akan menggelar Piala Dunia tahun berikutnya.

Awal-mula lahirnya Piala Konfederasi adalah dari kejuaraan yang digelar Kerajaan Arab Saudi yang bernama Piala Raja Fahd. Piala Raja Fahd hanya digelar 3 kali, yaitu tahun 1992, 1995, dan 1997, karena sejak 1999 kejuaraan ini berganti nama menjadi Piala Konfederasi yang selanjutnya menjadi agenda rutin FIFA

FIFA CONFEDERATIONS CUP 2009

FIFA Confederations Cup in 2009 will be held in South Africa from 14-28 June 2009. This championship will be opened and closed at the Ellis Park stadium in the city of Johannesburg South Africa. Total have 4 stadium that will be used in the Confederations Cup this time, namely:
* Ellis Park Stadium in the City of Johannesburg. Capacity of 62,567 spectators

* LoftusVersfeld Stadium in the city of Pretoria. Capacity of 50,000 spectators.
* Free State Stadium in the City Bloemfontein. Capacity of 48,000 spectators.
* Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg City. Capacity of 42,000 spectators.

There are 8 champions team from the various confederations under the auspices of FIFA will participate in the Confederation Cup this time, they are:
• South Africa: Host World Cup 2010
• United States: Concacaf Gold Cup Champion 2007
• Brazil: Champion Copa America 2007
• Iraq: Asian Cup Champion 2007
• Italy: World Cup Champion 2006
• Egypt: Africa Cup Champion 2008
• New Zealand: 2008 Oceania Cup Champion
• Spain: European Cup Champion 2008.
Teams are divided into 2 groups, namely:
Group A: South Africa, Spain, Iraq,and New Zealand.
Group B: Egypt, the United States, Brazil,and Italy.
